About Abide

EASTER_GLOW-41.jpg

The word abide means to remain, continue, stay, dwell, or reside. Jesus's invitation to anyone who believes in Him is that they would abide in Him.

We believe an abiding relationship with Jesus doesn’t happen by chance, but by pursuit; that it doesn't just happen on a Sunday, but every day. This life-changing relationship can be intentionally and purposefully built through discipleship to Jesus and through community with one another.

We are committed to helping one another build a deep connection with our loving God and become people who are defined by love. As a result, our hope at Abide is to help each other grow in four main areas:
 Devotion, Discipleship, Community, and Kingdom.

Our Hope
for You

1. Devotion

In Acts 2:42, it says the church ‘devoted themselves’. Devotion means ‘a passionate attachment’ to the relationship that transforms lives and to the One who longs to be in a relationship with us. We want to equip and inspire you to grow in personal devotion to Jesus through resources and teachings.

2. Discipleship

We believe that you can’t follow Jesus alone. When you said yes to following Jesus, you joined a family of people on that very same journey. This is good news! At Abide, that means that becoming a disciple or an apprentice of Jesus largely happens in the context of Connect Groups.

We believe that Sunday alone won't cover all the bases in growing in Jesus. Connect Groups are small groups of like-minded people who meet throughout the week to intentionally help each other grow in our personal discipleship to Jesus and, as a by-product, in our relationships with one another.

3. Community

While community takes many forms in the life of our church, one of the greater moments of community takes place in our Sunday gatherings.

Every week, we gather as a community to worship, to grow in knowledge of God through the preaching and teaching of scripture, to love and serve each other, to learn from and be inspired by those different to us, and to wrap our arms around those new to faith. It's where we celebrate victories as a family, support and pray for one another through challenges, and grow stronger together as a community of faith.

4. Kingdom

The theme that Jesus preached the most was about ‘The Kingdom’. However, the kingdom wasn’t so much a literal place, but a condition. When Jesus taught us to pray and to ask for ‘His kingdom come’, His hope was that we would bring the conditions of the kingdom into our world.

As a church, we want to equip our people to bring the conditions of God's kingdom into their workplace, their businesses, and their vocation. We believe that everyone has a kingdom calling to make the world a more beautiful place by infusing it with the conditions of the kingdom.

Whether you are a business person, a creative, an educator, a builder, a student, or a parent, there's an opportunity to bring light into the darkness, hope into despair, and love into every interaction. At Abide, we believe that no matter what we do, we can do it in a way that glorifies God and blesses others.
